The movie begins with Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) hiding under his blanket to do his homework. He pretends to be asleep when Uncle Vernon comes in to check on him. This happens repeatedly and the title "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" appears.
The third Harry Potter movie was a great success, with more adventures and puberty taking place.
Harry faces a new trouble, when he finds out Sirius Black has escaped from Azkaban prison and is after him.
There are also new cast members such as Gary Oldman (Sirius Black), David Thewlis (New Defence against the Dark Arts teacher Remus Lupin), and Emma Thompson (Divination teacher Professor Trelawney). They add more spirit to the movie, and it is interesting to see more adult actors in the movie.
At this stage, we can see Harry all grown up and ready to face Sirius Black. He gets more emotional.
There are also the Dementors, which sucks all happiness from a person, and gives a kiss (no, not those kind of peck on the cheek), which means sucking the soul, said to be worst than dying. Strangely enough, Harry starts to hear his mother’s scream and keeps fainting whenever a Dementor is around. His rivalry with Draco also, well let’s just say, becomes stronger.
The scenes in this movie are absolutely brilliant and Alfonso Cuaron’s work finally paid off. It made millions of Harry Potter fans satisfied and wanting for more. Yet, fans still complain that the movie is too short and that the replacement of the late Richard Harris, Michael Gambon wasn’t a pleasure. “He did well, but there was no Dumbledore spirit in it,” says a fan.
The new Hogwarts made everyone happy, and the humor Cuaron added made the movie greater, with the Harry Potter series growing darker and edgier.
